The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the economy of our country with the most affected one being small and new business. While our economy has definitely take a little setback, a report published in the Lancet journal states that Indian economy will become third largest in the world by 2050 after United States and China. If the calculations of the study are correct India will replace Japan by 2050 which lies in the fourth post. Currently India lies in fifth position followed by France and the United Kingdom. The research was based on working-age population trends of countries and calculated Gross Domestic Product based on the data-driven scenarios. In 2017, India was the seventh largest economic in the world and the study took this data as a base year and calculated the gap of the country.
