When she was 7, Vidushi Kanoria used to make quirky handmade cards, sell them to florists shops and would earn little sums of money. Little did she know that she could make her entire living out of the strong creative bent towards colours and patterns displayed at an early age. Nevertheless, she pursued her career by earning an MBA degree from SIBM/Pune and started working as a management trainee in Ideal Cellular, Noida.
While she was spending weekends with her cousins in Gurgaon, Vidushi met Aayush, a distant cousin, and started piggybacking with him. They used to meet and discuss unique business ideas. These long meets gave way to the idea of curating a “noticeable” product line that perfectly resonated with the personalities of millennials and zoomers, thereby helping them to express themselves better. In an attempt to present something unique to the market, they started their designing process with socks. Creative socks design ideas were generated for people at all fronts, ranging from students to corporate executives.
In 2018, they proceeded with the idea of building Soxytoes and it finally came into being with a team of 4 sedulous members. Presently, Soxytoes sells its products through both online (own website, marketplaces, partner sites) and offline (kiosks, corporate gifting, resellers) channels.
Vidushi Kanoria, the co-founder of Soxytoes, describes her venture as leveraging ‘noticeability’ viz. eye-popping designs which become a visual expression of one’s personality, to transform functional (read boring) product categories and build a global omnichannel lifestyle brand. Soxytoes emerged with the mission of enabling their clients to stand out in the crowd and is continuing on a journey to do so.
Started with socks as their first functional (read boring) product in 2018, the company has expanded to incorporate other products like masks and loungewear. However, success doesn’t come easy, and running a business definitely has its fair share of ups and downs. The same is true for Soxytoes.
The prevailing global pandemic has had an impact on a wide range of activities performed globally. Businesses are no exception. COVID-19 presented problems for Soxytoes and it became difficult to sustain the business during the hit. Nonetheless, the innovative minds at work found their way back by manufacturing face masks. They proved to be a huge success to the brand, as they managed to keep the core values of the company, noticeability and great quality, intact.
In the words of Vidushi Kanoria, “I believe that a good entrepreneur should have a vision, the drive to execute that vision, the ability to build a team which shares that same vision, the tenacity to persevere, and the positive mindset to motivate his team to persevere with him”.
Despite the challenges and struggles, Soxytoes has managed to rise above the odds and stand strong as a company that has sold over 5 lakh units to 1.5 lakh customers. The company embraces 12 diligent members who put in every ounce of their hard work to make Soxytoes better with each passing moment.
Undoubtedly, when great minds are at work, they pave newer ways to their success. Soxytoes is driven by people who are filled with the zeal to provide innovation and customer delight. Their concern for the issues faced by their customers is one of the many factors that has helped them ace in the field. Today, Soxytoes is one of the leading brands in India within their respective niche. Moreover, they are motivated to expand their product portfolio actively in the coming years.
