Happy Independence Day, India is celebrating its 75th Independence Day today (Sunday). As Prime Minister Narendra Modi unfurled the National flag from the Red Fort, two Mi-17 1V helicopters of the IAF showered flower petals at the venue. To make this important day more special, the Centre has invited 32 athletes who won medal in Olympics along with 2 officials of Sports Authority of India. Moreover, to grace the Gyan Path, 40 Olympians, SAI and sport federation officials and support staff have also been invited to the venue. The 75th Independence Day of India is being marked as the “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav”, which will have 2 year long celebrations. The PM also paid tribute to all our past leaders who paid a crucial role in our Independence. In his tribute to our past leaders he said, “Be it Nehru ji, the first Prime Minister of India, Sardar Patel, who turned the country into a united nation or Babasaheb Ambedkar, who showed India the way to the future, the country is remembering every such personality, the country is indebted to all of them”. To honor Corona warriors for playing a crucial role during the corona pandemic, a separate block has been created for them on the south side of the Red Fort.
