In the wake of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi reached Furfura Sharif in Hooghly district on Sunday and met with Muslim leader Abbas Siddiqui. During this, he discussed the political scenario of the state and the upcoming assembly elections.
After the meeting, he said that I met Abbas Siddiqui today and our party will definitely participate in the upcoming assembly elections. Our party will stand with the decisions that will be taken by Abbas Siddiqui.
This is Owaisi’s first visit to West Bengal after announcing to contest elections in the state. AIMIM state secretary Zameerul Hasan said Owaisi wanted to keep the meeting a secret as we feared the state government might prevent him from exiting the airport. He flew directly to Hooghly to meet Abbas Siddiqui from Kolkata Airport.
Significantly, Furfura Sharif religious leaders keep making statements against Siddiqui state government. According to the information, Siddiqui has started the exercise to start a minority organization of his own.
