Election strategist Prashant Kishor met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar at his Mumbai residence last week, triggering speculation in the political circles. Clearly, the goal of both the people is the same – to remove the BJP and keep the Congress tight in the next general election. It has been told that for this, Sharad Pawar wants to see Prashant Kishor in the central role to barricade the opposition.
Significantly, Prashant Kishor is one of those people who himself has many ambitions as a politician. In this episode, he has also prepared a big group for himself.
In these, Mamata Banerjee is already with him and Kishor hopes that his old clients- MK Stalin, Jagan Mohan Reddy and Arvind Kejriwal will also join him soon. Apart from this, Amarinder Singh, who is considered dissatisfied with Kishor in the Congress, is also likely to return with him. However, it is also being said that Kishor also keeps in constant touch with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
At present, the BJP can be called a more united party than the Congress. This is because most of the BJP leaders are part of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organizations. However, even among these leaders, there have been reports of petty factionalism on the basis of organizations. This faction is not based on caste, region or community but is a group of leaders of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
From BJP President JP Nadda, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani, former Bihar Deputy CM Sushil Modi and Many other leaders are part of this faction. It is said that all these leaders are closely related and also take care of each other’s interests in the party. Even Dattatreya Hosabale, the general secretary of the RSS, was associated with the ABVP for a long time and later was also the general secretary of the organization for 15 years.
On the other hand, the Modi-Shah duo in the BJP is busy in overhauling the party anew by creating new equations. Some time ago, during the change in the Union Cabinet, there was talk of making such leaders as ministers, who were working in the background for the party till now. One of these names was also raised by Mahesh Jethmalani, son of famous lawyer Ram Jethmalani. Now the party has surprised many more candidates by nominating him from the Rajya Sabha seat of late artist Raghunath Mohapatra. One reason for this is that Mahesh had at one time been away from the party along with his father.
In 2012, Mahesh Jethmalani had also resigned from the BJP. But this time, one of the things that went in Mahesh’s favor is the fact that Amit Shah has been in favor of Mahesh’s father Ram Jethmalani, who advised him in the Sohrabuddin case and other cases going on in the UPA era. Apart from this, Mahesh Jethmalani’s own legal sense will also help him deal with the Congress’s list of high-profile lawyers in the Rajya Sabha, which includes leaders like Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, KTS Tulsi and Vivek Tankha. Not only this, being in Mumbai, Jethmalani can also help those party supporters on whom Uddhav Thackeray has put pressure.
