The high court seeks a response from Sonia and Rahul Gandhi on Subramanian Swamy’s petition.

The Delhi High Court has sought a response from the Congress party’s interim president Sonia Gandhi and MP Rahul Gandhi on the petition of BJP MP Subramanian Swamy.

BJP MP Swamy has challenged the lower court’s decision in the National Herald case in the Delhi High Court. The trial court had refused permission to prosecute Congress President Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi and others based on key evidence presented in her petition.

Justice Suresh Kait asked Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretaries Oscar Fernandes, Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda and ‘Young India’ (YI) to respond to Swamy’s plea by 12 April.

Advocate Satya Sabharwal, appearing for the BJP MP and lawyer Tarannum Cheema, appearing for the Gandhi family and others confirmed the issuance of the High Court notice and adjournment of the hearing till April 12.

The BJP leader, in a private criminal complaint filed in the lower court, accused Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, among others, of conspiring to fraudulently and improperly obtain money through the National Herald.
