We are two law students, Aparimita (22) and Suraj (22). We met during a cyber law seminar in my college and we’ve been best friends since then. We have a lot of similar interests and that helps us explore new and creative ideas.
We are currently in the toughest years of law schools and juggling the strenuous semesters, exams, internships, placement procedures and our small home run business with all smiles.
Question- How did you start? And When did you start?
ANSWER- We have always leaned towards the creative side and love playing with new ideas and specially things that involves colours. When we first discovered tufting, we immediately gathered the required supplies to learn it. With time, we kept on getting better and decided to make this into a professional home run business.
Ever since March 2020, all of us are stuck inside our rooms. There’s only so much Netflix you can watch without getting that dull and depressing feeling creeping in. Home décor plays such an important role in setting the vibe of a place. It can be bohemian, artsy, flowery and peachy or gothic, whatever makes the person happy whilst staying inside to spend lockdowns after lockdowns.
We’re extremely happy that we can provide a very small percentage of that happiness through our home décor products, the feeling is surreal.
Question- Share your ups and downs.
Answer- The biggest down has been the online toxicity so far. There are people who blatantly copy our work and try to steal our clients.
Another down is the bargaining that some people do. It’s so heartbreaking to see people bargain for a few rupees and not appreciate a handmade and custom product. Some people also expect us to make and dispatch orders in a few days and compare us with giants like Amazon and flipkart. We are just two college kids who are offering our art and skills to the people and we have our own work and life too. Two people can’t make the products and pack and dispatch them and consult clients in the DMs as well. It’s a totally unrealistic expectation and it really brings us down and loses our morale.
The upside however has been totally opposite and extremely overwhelming, we have so many genuine supporters and followers and we are so lucky to have this small family of kind people. They are the reason that even after all this negativity and toxicity we haven’t given up.
Question- Biggest accomplishment.
Answer– We have made rugs for two Indian rappers, Kr$na and Shahrule. Two social media influencers, Sanket Mehta and Prerna Mehra and an Australian musician called Nai Palm. This also motivates and fuels us that our work is being appreciated and getting support from all over the world.
We’re now just looking forward to grow our business and our small family to bigger and greater things everyday!
