Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given the green signal to this first semi-high speed train made in India in 2019. In a letter written on 10 February, Northern Railway stated, “The Railway Board has given permission to run the New Delhi-Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express from 15 February to 31 March”.

The Vande Bharat train running between New Delhi to Varanasi will withdraw from service for 45 days. Confirming this, a Northern Railway official said that the train will be operated only by Indian Railways and there will be no difference in fares. Indian Railways is currently operating four pairs of trains under Tejas Express services, which was started three years ago. Two of these, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Karmali Tejas Express and Chennai Egmore-Madurai Junction Tejas Express are run by Indian Railways.
