Rs.2,500 crore is Allocated to Mahakumbh-2025 in Uttar Pradesh Budget 2024-25

In a landmark move, the Uttar Pradesh Budget-2024-25 has allocated a substantial Rs 2,500 crore for the preparations of the Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj. This significant budgetary provision underscores the government’s commitment to facilitating the grand religious fair, scheduled to span 45 days and culminate with the Mahashivaratri bathing on February 26, 2025.

The budget, with a total outlay of Rs 7.36 lakh crore, not only caters to the Mahakumbh but also addresses the developmental needs of Ayodhya, Varanasi, and other places of religious significance. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna emphasized that this is an inclusive budget designed to benefit all sections of society.

Prayagraj, the site of the upcoming Mahakumbh, stands out as the major beneficiary of this budgetary allocation. The mega event is set to commence on January 13, 2025, with the Paush Purnima snan, attracting millions of devotees to the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.

A notable component of the budget is the earmarking of Rs 1,750 crore for the development of ‘dharmarthmargs,’ emphasizing the government’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure around religious routes. This allocation is crucial for ensuring a seamless and enhanced experience for pilgrims and visitors during the Mahakumbh and beyond.

The Yogi Adityanath government’s eighth budget reflects a strategic focus on uplifting places of religious and cultural significance, aligning with the broader development goals of the state. Ayodhya, Varanasi, and other key locations are set to benefit from targeted allocations, contributing to their overall growth and infrastructure enhancement.

As we delve into the details of this budget, it becomes evident that the government’s vision extends beyond mere financial allocations. It is about fostering an environment that encourages cultural and religious tourism, thereby boosting the economy and creating a positive impact on the lives of the local population.

This budget is not just a financial document; it is a roadmap for the holistic development of Uttar Pradesh. The emphasis on inclusive growth, coupled with strategic allocations for religious and cultural hubs, showcases a forward-looking approach that aims to make the state a model of progress and prosperity.

The forthcoming Mahakumbh-2025 holds immense cultural and spiritual significance, and the substantial budgetary allocation underscores the government’s commitment to hosting the event seamlessly. The economic ripple effect of such grand religious fairs is often substantial, benefiting various sectors and creating employment opportunities.

The Uttar Pradesh Budget-2024-25 stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to holistic development, with a particular focus on religious and cultural heritage. The substantial allocation for the Mahakumbh-2025 in Prayagraj is not just an investment in an event; it is an investment in the state’s cultural and economic future. As the preparations for the Mahakumbh gain momentum, the positive impact on tourism, infrastructure, and overall economic growth is poised to be transformative.
