Effective Ayurvedic tips to control blood sugar levels

The International Diabetes Federation predicts that by 2024–25, India would have 70 million people with diabetes, a chronic lifestyle illness, up from the current 40 million. It is acknowledged as a silent killer because it is a chronic disease.

According to Dr. Smita Naram, co-founder of Ayushakti, “Since this disorder develops gradually, the early indications are mild and commonly disregarded by people, leading to delayed diagnoses.”

However, Dr. Naram offers several Ayurvedic treatments that you can try if you’re looking for some all-natural approaches to manage your blood sugar level. These consist of:

1)To lower your blood sugar levels, consume two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds soaked in water the night before (along with the water). Fenugreek seed powder can also be taken every day with milk or hot or cold water.

2)In the morning, on an empty stomach, consume one teaspoon each of turmeric powder and amla (gooseberry) (Emblic myrobalan powder) together with water. Turmeric is a wonderful plant that not only aids in the treatment of common colds and coughs but is also effective in the prevention of type 2 diabetes.

3)Dehydration is more likely to occur in diabetics. The kidneys try to excrete the extra glucose in the urine, but that requires water. Accordingly, the more fluids you should consume, the higher your blood glucose will be, which is why Dr. Smita identified thirst as one of the primary signs of diabetes.

4)Add cinnamon to your diet on a regular basis. Diabetes can be prevented and treated with the use of cinnamon’s bioactive component. Cinnamon can control blood sugar levels by promoting insulin action. Every day, take one teaspoon of warm water and half a teaspoon of ground cinnamon.

5)Fresh fruits like apples, guavas, and cherries should be consumed; they help to keep blood sugar levels stable. Apples are a great source of antioxidants, soluble fibre, and vitamin C. Apple pectin helps the body cleanse, eliminate toxic wastes and poisons, and reduce insulin levels. Additionally, apples can reduce the risk of a few cancers, heart diseases, and eye diseases as well as diabetes complications.

Dr. Smita added, “In addition, one should also make a few lifestyle adjustments by maintaining a balanced diet, resting for at least 7 to 8 hours each night, quitting smoking and drinking, and avoiding junk and sugary foods.”
