From 15GB to 1TB: Google bumps up Workspace Individual storage

Soon, Google will roll out more capabilities for “Workspace Individual” users, including changes to email personalization for all users and an increase in storage capacity.

Every Google Workspace Individual account will soon have 1 TB of safe cloud storage, according to the company. You don’t need to do anything to acquire the upgraded storage: “As we roll this out, every account will automatically be upgraded from their current 15 GB of storage to 1 TB,” Google said in a blog post.

“Business owners have informed us that the familiarity of our tools helps them get more done,” the blog post continued. And as of right now, we’re giving Workspace Individual users even additional features. In order to make Google Workspace Individual available to even more business owners worldwide, we are also expanding our geographical availability.

Google Workspace (formerly GSuite) is a cloud-based productivity suite that helps individual users and office teams connect and get work done from anywhere, on any device. Google has over 8 million paying Google Workspace customers globally, of which 2 million customers have been added during the last two years alone, as the need for remote productivity shot up during the pandemic.

Google said it previously launched ‘multi-send mode’, which allows users to easily email many recipients while maintaining their privacy, making it great for sending newsletters and announcements.

You may now include mail merge tags in multi-send emails, such as @firstname, to give each recipient a personalised communication that feels as though it was written just for them. The site noted that unsubscribe links are automatically included in multi-send emails so that recipients can choose not to receive more correspondence.

Drive also has built-in defences against malware, spam, and ransomware, so users won’t have to worry about unintentionally exposing themselves to malware by simply opening a document.

As your business expands, it’s only natural that you’ll need to manage and store more documents, data, and digital assets. Google Drive gives you the freedom to do this safely from any device. You can store over 100 file types in Drive, including PDFs, CAD files and images, and you can easily collaborate on and edit Microsoft Office files without converting them,’ the blogpost said.

The Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Greece, and Argentina are among the new nations and areas where Google is introducing Workspace Individual. The new nations will increase the number of areas where entrepreneurs can sign up for Workspace Individual, which currently includes the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Australia, and six European nations.

When it comes to Workspace Individual, Google noted that as it increases its footprint, “we are also expanding the functionality, building on Premium Meet, eSignature in Google Docs, appointment scheduling, and flexible layouts and multi-send in Gmail.”
