Rivaba Jadeja wins Gujarat’s Jamnagar seat

BJP’s Rivaba Jadeja, who is the wife of Indian cricketer Ravindra Jadeja’s, won from the Jamnagar North seat, beating her nearest rival Aam Aadmi Party’s Karsan Karmur by a margin of more than 40, 000 votes, with the party on track for a massive record win in the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Bhipendrasinh Jadeja of Congress came in third. Rivaba Jadeja received 77,630 votes after 15 rounds of voting, while Karshan Karmur of the Aam Aadmi Party received 31,671 votes, according to the Election Commission. Bipendrasinh Jadeja, a member of the Congress party and the brother-in-law of Ravindra Jadeja, was projected to place third and had 22,180 votes as of the time of this update.

In Jamnagar North, there was sibling rivalry at work as Ravindra Jadeja campaigned for his wife Rivaba and his sister Naynaba Jadeja supported the Congress, bringing attention to this urban district where voters, like most of Gujarat, once again supported the ruling party. After being created out as a result of delimitation, the constituency cast its first vote in 2012. After the then-incumbent MLA Dharmendrasinh Jadeja, locally known as Hakubha, switched parties, the Congress won it, but the BJP seized it in 2017.
