34,000 institutions and over 690 universities are not NAAC-accredited, according to the Ministry of Education.

During the Lok Sabha proceedings, the Education Ministry informed the house that 34,000 institutions and over 695 universities are now operating across the nation without NAAC recognition.

On Monday, information about the universities and institutions operating without National Assessment and Accreditation Council accreditation was provided to the parliament by UGC (NAAC).

NAAV has accredited 418 universities and 9,062 institutions.

Subhas Sarkar, the Union Minister of State for Education, provided the information in response to a written query in the Lok Sabha. “According to information received from the UGC, NAAC has accredited 418 institutions and 9,062 colleges out of the 1,113 universities and 43,796 colleges,” he said. “The NAAC has significantly decreased the assessment and accreditation price structure in order to include all educational institutions, including colleges and universities, within the accreditation system.

The metrics and queries in the associated and constituent colleges’ handbook for self-study report have also been greatly decreased “Sarkar continued.

34,734 colleges are currently in operation without NAAC accreditation, he claimed.

All higher education institutions are expected to strive to achieve the highest level of accreditation during the next 15 years, according to the new National Education Policy (NEP).

The NAAC, an Inter-University Center of the University Grants Commission, performs university and college accreditation (UGC).
