Amitabh Bachchan’s 80th Birthday: Mumtaz reminisces, “Jaya ji used to come on the sets of our Bandhe Haath” – Exclusive

On the sets of O P Rallhan’s “Bandhe Haath” (1973), everything was happening—difficult work, tension, excellent performances, enjoyment, anxiety—all the typical feelings one has when working with others to make a picture with enthusiasm. Amitabh Bachchan and Mumtaz played the key characters in the movie. “Amit ji had just recently begun his career at the time, but he was unique and dedicated to his trade. How can you predict how far I would go when I didn’t know? But you see, effort always reaps rewards. He therefore is what he is and is where he is.”

Mumtaz talks more affectionately about Amitabh Bachchan as he celebrates his 80th birthday today. As it got near to midnight, Mumtaz called to ETimes from London, where she and her husband Mayur Madhwani were staying. “Amitabh Bachchan is a fantastic communicator. Take a look at “Kaun Banega Crorepati” right now; it is still well-liked.”

Mumtaz concluded by noting that Bachchan and she had both attended events at the same time in the past. “He approached me, and we greeted one other. He is a perfect gentleman.”

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bhaduri were much in love while “Bandhe Haath” was being filmed. “Jaya ji used to visit the RK Studios set of our “Bandhe Haath.” We talked for a long time “Mumtaz summed up.
