BYJU’s Founder

BYJU’s Classes, a provider of instructional technologies whose tagline is “Fall in love with learning,” was founded by Byju Raveendran.

In 1980, the founder and CEO of BYJU’s were born in the little Kerela town of Azhikode. He earned a B. Tech in mechanical engineering from Government Engineering College in Kannur, Kerela. Before starting BYJU’s, Byju Raveendran was a service engineer for a large shipping firm. But he started BYJU’s since teaching was his actual calling.

As a skilled athlete who competes in six different sports, Byju Raveendran also works as an entrepreneur and a teacher. He played table tennis, badminton, cricket, and football at the collegiate level. As he is known to his students, Byju sir has twice received the highest possible score on the CAT. In contrast, he never went to an IIM.

How Did BYJU’s Begin?

Byju Raveendran, a native of the little hamlet of Azhikode in the state of Kerala, worked as an engineer for a shipping firm in the UK. He started helping his pals while he was at work by helping them study for the CAT exam, which is required for admission to the best business schools in India. Byju took the test to challenge himself as well, and he did well. Instead of enrolling in any IIM, he started advising pupils while they prepared for their mathematics exams.

At first, he attended free mathematical workshops, but after gaining confidence in his skills, he started charging a fee. At one point, more than 20000 students attended one of his workshops due to their popularity. In 2009, he started shooting the workshops he organised, and he hasn’t stopped since.

Former classmates who had earned IIMs degrees encouraged him to enrol in BYJU courses. The goal of the business “Think and Learn Pvt Ltd” is to produce educational materials for children. He published Byju’s – The Learning App in 2015, and more than 55 lakh people downloaded it.

BYJU’s – Growth

BYJU is a really distinctive company that has achieved great success on the market. It uses rigid marketing strategies. Additionally, the business and Disney have teamed up to provide a young learners’ app for students in grades 1-3.

Recently, BYJU’s received attention for adopting a pro-active stance during the coronavirus outbreak. BYJU has made its learning app available to students for free until the end of April 2020, allowing them to continue their studies without interruption. This is because many schools in India were closed as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

It was simple for BYJU to reach its $1 billion revenue target for the fiscal year that concluded in March 2021.
