Class 10th Dalit student dies after being beaten by teacher in UP for writing wrong answers in exam

A Class 10 Dalit student in Uttar Pradesh’s Auraiya district died after he was allegedly beaten up by a school teacher for writing wrong answers in the examination.

15-year-old student of Adarsh Inter College has written wrong answer in the exam held on September 7 and for this he was beaten by his social science teacher.

According to a complaint filed on September 24, the Superintendent of Police Auraiya, Charu Nigam, said, “Nikit, a Class 10 student of Adarsh Inter College Achhalda was beaten by his social science teacher, Ashwini Singh, for writing wrong answers in the exam on September 7.”

He was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Etawah district since September 7 and the teacher had also helped the family financially. However, he refused to pay the money after learning that he had been referred to Lucknow for treatment.

Police said that after being in the hospital for about 20 days, his condition deteriorated and he was declared brought dead on the morning of 26 September.

Police said after the news of his death, the teacher was not answering calls. “Three teams have been formed for the search operation. The body has been sent for postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.”

The police department said that investigation is on in the matter. Based on the complaint, an FIR has also been registered against the teacher at Achhalda police station.
