IIT Kanpur to offer free studies to its meritorious students under Bright Minds Scholarship Scheme

The scholarship was launched last year in 2021 and has been established with the support of IIT Kanpur alumnus Lokveer Kapoor.

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is offering a special scholarship program for the All India top 100 rank-holders of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2022 for the 2nd consecutive year.

With the admission in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, the process of applying for Bright Minds Scholarship has started for 10 students who have secured top 100 ranks in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. Under this scheme, these students will study free of cost for the next 4 years.

The scholarship was launched last year with the support of IIT Kanpur alumnus Lokveer Kapoor. The purpose behind the scholarship is to encourage and reward the meritorious students. The scholarship will cover all expenses including tuition and living expenses during the stay at IIT Kanpur.

Along with the tuition fees, the scholarship recipients will get full facilities of accommodation, books, health insurance, transportation etc. in the institute free of cost. This scholarship will be given to 10 students who will take admission in B.Tech and BS courses for the academic year 2022-23. Each student will get a scholarship of Rs 3 lakh annually and in four years this amount will be Rs 12 lakh.

The aim of IIT Kanpur is to ensure that not a single meritorious student faces any hurdle in his/her education due to financial constraints. Each eligible student will be entitled to an annual scholarship of ₹3 lakh which will cover their expenses during the UG programme.

A graduate student in IIT-K usually spends ₹12 lakh through a 4-year B.Tech/BS program. According to the institute’s press release, student scholarships provide a meaningful way to extend support for the cost of education which includes tuition fees, boarding and lodging, books and supplies, health insurance, transportation, etc.
