A car collision claimed the life of a PhD student from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and injured another. The incident took place on the evening of January 17, 2023, outside the institute’s campus, according to the institute. The two PhD candidates were from the IIT Delhi department of textiles and fibres.
PhD candidates Ashraf Nawaz Khan and Ankur Shukla were involved in a “tragic” accident that resulted in Khan’s death while Shukla is receiving medical attention.
The authorities are looking into the event, and IIT Delhi said it is saddened by the passing of its PhD student. The institute also stated that it was offering assistance to the Khan and Shukla families.
“Two IIT Delhi Ph.D. students from the Textile and Fibre Engineering Department met with a catastrophic traffic accident on the evening of January 17, 2023, outside the university.
Mr. Ashraf Nawaz Khan, one of the students, passed away as a result of the accident’s injuries. Mr. Ankur Shukla, a different student who suffered an injury, is receiving medical attention. According to an official statement from IIT Delhi, the police are looking into the accident.
“The institute community expresses its sincere sympathies to his family and mourns the passing of its pupil. We are also asking for God to hasten Mr. Ankur Shukla’s recovery. The institute noted that it was giving both students’ families all the assistance they needed.
