Latest: Nithin Kamath, co-founder of Zerodha, discloses that he experienced a minor stroke 6 weeks ago.

Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath, the co-founder of the trading app, recently shared on social media that he faced a mild stroke about six weeks ago. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kamath revealed the incident and reflected on the possible factors contributing to it. While not explicitly pinpointing a single cause, he mentioned the passing of his father, irregular sleep patterns, fatigue, dehydration, and intense physical activity as potential contributors.

“Approximately six weeks ago, I had a mild stroke out of the blue. Dad passing away, poor sleep, exhaustion, dehydration, and overworking out — any of these could be possible reasons,” Kamath stated.

The entrepreneur went on to describe the impact on his health, noting the sudden droop in his face and difficulties in reading and writing. Kamath expressed optimism about his recovery, projecting a timeframe of 3 to 6 months. Despite facing such a health setback, he emphasized the importance of recognizing when to adjust one’s pace.

“I’ve gone from having a big droop in the face and not being able to read or write to having a slight droop but being able to read and write more. From being absent-minded to more present-minded. So, 3 to 6 months for full recovery,” he shared.

Kamath, known for promoting a healthy lifestyle on social media, admitted that even someone who is fit and mindful of their health can be affected. He acknowledged the need to understand when to slow down and reassess one’s habits. Kamath concluded the post with a positive outlook, mentioning that, while slightly broken, he is still maintaining his treadmill routine.

This revelation sparked widespread reactions on social media, with well-wishers expressing support. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the head of Biocon, offered prayers for Kamath’s swift recovery, while Ashneer Grover, a former ‘Shark Tank’ judge, advised him to take care, speculating that the passing of Kamath’s father might have deeply affected him.

Kamath’s openness about his health journey serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a balance in life, even for individuals seemingly in good physical condition. The incident prompts reflection on the challenges faced by high-performing individuals and the need for self-care in the face of demanding lifestyles.

As Kamath embarks on his path to recovery, his experience underscores the significance of mental and physical well-being, transcending the entrepreneurial realm and resonating with a broader audience. This revelation not only sheds light on personal health struggles but also advocates for a more comprehensive approach to success—one that prioritizes holistic wellness over relentless pursuit.
