Organized efforts on dictionary culture, giving priority to Indian languages in the national education policy : PM Narendra Modi

“ It is also the government’s discharge of its responsibility towards the language and pride in its culture. Every Indian citizen should join this campaign of pride on their culture and the coming generation should try to make contact with the dictionary and increase it.” Said PM modi on the eve of Venkaianayudu’s farewell ceremony.

On the farewell evening of Venkaianayudu ,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi was discussing about the political qualities of Venkaiana ji, in the presence of all the dignitaries . PM had not only discussed about his political qualities but also praised his love of language.

Prime Minister had also shared an information about the website called Bhashini, which Government of India has created. Prime Minister said that the richness of Indian languages has been displayed on this website. There is a system of translation from one Indian language to another Indian language. The Prime Minister did not stop there. He made a request to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Deputy Speaker Harivansh sitting on the dais.

He said that in both the Houses of Parliament, when a member makes a speech in his mother tongue or a member interferes in a discussion, great words come out of the speech of many members or their interference in a discussion. Those words of Indian languages are also very interesting to the members of other languages and also seem meaningful.

The Prime Minister requested Om Birla and Harivansh from the stage itself that arrangements should be made in both our Houses to store such meaningful, interesting and coming Indian language words with language diversity. After that the tradition of publishing a collection of such words every year should be started. Prime Minister Modi not only said a very serious thing, quoting Venkaiana ji’s love of mother tongue, but also suggested to take the initiative to make dictionaries of Indian language.

Recently, on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, Home Minister Amit Shah launched the first edition of an innovative digital dictionary by the name of Shabd Sindhu at the Hindi Divas function held in Surat.

This dictionary is from Hindi to Hindi. In this, the meanings of words and sentence usages have also been given as per the requirement. Fifty-one thousand words have just been put in it. In future the number of words in this dictionary will be increased. Science in it. The terms related to technology, judicial process and technology have been included.

These dictionaries were said to be available on the website of the Department of Official Language of the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Central Hindi Directorate of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of External Affairs. A target has been set to include words from Indian languages in this dictionary. There is an inconvenience in the inclusion of words from Indian languages in the dictionary.

It is not accidental that the Prime Minister talks about making dictionaries of Indian languages in a meeting. For this, the responsible officers of both the houses of the Parliament are requested and on the other hand the Home Minister starts the initiative to update the Hindi dictionary.  It is also the government’s discharge of its responsibility towards the language and pride in its culture.

Every Indian citizen should join this campaign of pride on their culture and the coming generation should try to make contact with the dictionary and increase it.
