The Gandhi Peace Pilgrimage award was given to Indian spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar in Atlanta in honour of his relentless efforts to preach the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In the presence of Isaac Farris, the nephew of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Dr. Swati Kulkarni, the consul general of India in Atlanta, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar received the distinguished award from the Gandhi Foundation of the USA.
According to the citation, the Art of Living founder received the award “for his extraordinary dedication and contribution for humanity to achieve the change we want to see in the world, by his wisdom, insight, and inspiration in the spirit of Gandhi-King Message of Peace and Ahimsa.”
