UPNEDA Urges Investing in Solar Energy Sector in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh (UP) state government has recently declared its Solar Energy Policy 2022. Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) is the State Nodal Agency for implementation of this policy.

Under the policy state aims to produce 22,000 megawatts of solar energy in the next five-years. This includes 14,000 MW through establishment of solar park, 4,500 MW from residential solar roof, 1,500 MW from non-residential solar roof as well as 2,000 MW of power generation from components of PM Kusum Yojana.

To align with India’s ambitious solar energy capacity extension program, the state through this policy, envisages accelerating the deployment of solar power by means of implementation of utility-scale solar parks and projects, distributed solar systems, establishment of ultra-mega solar parks and rooftop solar PV projects and introducing new mechanisums in the state that would support consumers, businesses and developers in investing in State.

In UP solar energy policy, various incentives and state support have been made available to provide conducive environment for investment in the field of solar energy generation and storage.

UPNEDA is positive that going through the solar energy policy will enable investors to take a positive decision for investing in Uttar Pradesh.

The nodal agency looking forward to the investment in UP. UP envisages to become a trillion dollar economy in next 5 year which will happen through industrial development. Power supply will be an important aspect for this growth engine and solar power provides cheap energy for fuelling industrialisation.
