UPSC to hold separate exam for Indian Railways from 2023

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will start holding the recruitment process for the Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS) in 2023, according to a statement made by the Ministry of Railways on Friday.

A preliminary screening will be done before the major written exam and interview on the IRMS. The Civil Services (Prelims) test will be required of qualified candidates in order to screen them for the second step, which is the IRMS main written exam, according to a statement from the Railway Ministry.

In total, 150 IRMS applicants will be hired in 2023 for four potential fields: accountancy, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, and electrical engineering (30).

There will be four papers of traditional essay questions on the IRMS (Main) test.

Paper A in Part 1 will be for one of the Indian languages that the candidate will choose from those listed in the constitution’s eighth schedule. It would carry 300 points. English will be the 300-point Paper B.

Part 2 will consist of optional subjects 1 and 2, each worth 250 points. Part 3, a 100-mark personality test, will come after it.
